Vermont 3-Day Advanced Printing for Exhibit Seminars

Sooner or later, you'll start creating images which demand presentation as a portfolio of prints or a gallery exhibit. While many fine photo labs exist which could make these prints for you, you'll find the greatest creative control and personal satisfaction from making your own prints. This Master Class will transform you from a hobbyist to a fine-art printer.

Advanced Photo Printing for Exhibit Seminars

During this 3-day workshop, you'll first learn several non-destructive image editing work-flows which will serve as a foundation for all your file editing decisions. These workflows will help you prepare your image files for final printing, both in black and white and in color. Working with Epson and Canon wide-carriage printers, we then explore the variables which control the quality of your prints: printer profiles, paper choices, ICC paper profiles, rendering intent, rip software, color management and color handling. We'll discuss the proofing workflow as the shortest and most economical way to refine an image. We also talk about the value of a properly calibrated system—monitor, printer, and perhaps scanner—and its relationship to the printing workflow. We examine the techniques for In addition, we look at various fine art papers, how to match images with their most appropriate paper, and how digital images differ from the older silver printing processes. No discussion of print aesthetics would be complete without a dialogue about print display and lighting, and we will review your options for this.

Paper, ink and printers are provided and included in this workshop—you need only bring your laptop and image files to work with. Working together, I'll guide you step by step along the pathway to making masterful prints. Leave you confusion and self-doubts at home, but leave room in your luggage for some beautiful prints and a big heap of self-confidence.
