5-Day Digital Landscape & Nature Workshop

Vermont Nature

If landscape and nature photography are your passion, there is no more beautiful place than the Green Mountains of Vermont to expand your skills and sensitivity. We will explore all the same aspects as the Digital Photography Workshop—equipment, capture, file management, digital image editing and aesthetics. But we’ll take this process one step further by applying this information on numerous field trips to make new images. Daily critiques will give you immediate feedback about your technique and will expand ways to make your images stronger and more successful.

Bring your alarm clock and plan on rising before sunrise—you won’t want to miss the beautiful early morning light in this valley. Throughout the workshop, we will concentrate on seeing the quality of light present. You’ll discover that when you photograph in the moment, using the light which the day has offered, preconceived ideas disappear. Your images become a direct response to your environment and your imaging sessions become much more enjoyable and productive.

This workshop is designed for the landscape photographer with a basic knowledge of camera controls and some understanding of the digital process. We will help expand your knowledge base in both areas, so bring your thirst for knowledge as well as your camera gear.

Workshop Schedule: July 5-10 and August 2-7, 2009

Doug Bradshaw is a retired school superintendent. He attended this workshop before an extended trip to the Pacific northwest:
"One of the many things I learned in my class with Alan Nyiri was the importance of timing and lighting. I shot this picture on the Oregon coast at about mid-morning when the fog was beginning to lift. I felt that the lighting with the mountains and the fog gave the picture a sense of drama. Pictures taken at other times of the day had very different emotional impact."
